How reliable is the BMR calcuation for someone who has dieted for a decade or two and slowed her metabolism?OhYeahBabehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18233544200400642335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-52922034506707139932008-06-12T18:19:00.000-05:002008-06-12T18:19:00.000-05:00The converse of this may also be true. I'm 54 years old, of average weight (5 feet 10.5 inches, 165 pounds) and trying to figure out why I have a lot more energy now than when I was 21 years old and weighed 140 pounds. I rarely get tired and sleep only 5 hours per night. My TSH keeps coming in above normal. I think what is happening is that my body is ramping up my metabolism in response to a greater caloric intake.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-1125861763862352672005-09-04T14:22:00.000-05:002005-09-04T14:22:00.000-05:00Great blog. I've been doing some research into leptin as a tangent from how juvenile obesity affects the number of adipose cells you have an adulthood.
To promote leptin circulation, I started 5-HTP. It seems to be working as I feel like I have more energy and less of a desire to eat.Shawn DeWolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06222971478684519650noreply@blogger.com
