(and I am totally exagerating here) what a load of absolute tripe if that kid is obese or on the way to being so then I must be the easter bunny & I know I'm not the easter bunny. More fooling around with figures (obviously the BMI figures have been lowered yet again along with blood pressure & cholesterol figures - talk about salemen drumming up business) to put people into categories makes you want to scream doesn't it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-12627341744187199652008-06-19T15:45:00.000-05:002008-06-19T15:45:00.000-05:00"They" lowered the BMI indication of obesity, agai..."They" lowered the BMI indication of obesity, again?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15727857476700090660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-64246737110035840462008-06-19T07:12:00.000-05:002008-06-19T07:12:00.000-05:00"They" lowered the BMI indication of obesity?"They" lowered the BMI indication of obesity?Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17268626403040745983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-27687870267724095202008-06-18T17:01:00.000-05:002008-06-18T17:01:00.000-05:00She had to have gained waitShe had to have gained waitAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-59248053471351998642008-06-18T16:26:00.000-05:002008-06-18T16:26:00.000-05:00The doctor didn't say the kid is overweight, just ...The doctor didn't say the kid is overweight, just that she's at risk for becoming overweight!

It really depends on which source you use for information - there is a huge debate if "at risk for overweight" needs to be replaced with the less politically correct "overweight" since the consensus is that 85th percentile through 95th is overweight and 95th and higher is obese, but few desire calling a child "obese" and we're in this murk....is 85th "at risk" for overweight, or do we call it what we really mean, simply "overweight"?.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09224160356421549054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-80407226536617781552008-06-18T15:25:00.000-05:002008-06-18T15:25:00.000-05:00She could simply have grown 1/4 inch taller! I'm going to guess that what's happened is that the doctor got some kind of directive from the HMO to monitor kids' BMI. BMI's a flawed measure for adults and, I would guess, even more so for toddlers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-81611078998110871822008-06-18T14:48:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:48:00.000-05:00They now live in Nazi Germany and Eugenics has bee...They now live in Nazi Germany and Eugenics has been rolled out?Lowcarb_davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02731513723761653022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-67466691390663211692008-06-18T14:30:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:30:00.000-05:00I wouldn't worry too much. Over the summer, feed her lots of fruits and vegetables and give her plenty of opportunities to play outside. I bet she'll be on track by fall.

If her weight's still a cause for concern, look at her carbohydrate consumption and cut back on the high-glycemic ones, which might be driving her hunger. Unless her diet's really out of whack, don't cut back on her fats - kids need them.

I expect you know all this anyway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-9427146711143740522008-06-18T14:28:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:28:00.000-05:00I hate suspence, just tell us!I hate suspence, just tell us!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-17106049908885469902008-06-18T14:26:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:26:00.000-05:00She gained weight and the mom didn't see it packin...She gained weight and the mom didn't see it packing on!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-79395298734727832032008-06-18T14:11:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:11:00.000-05:00Maybe she's getting ready for a growth spurt and g...Maybe she's getting ready for a growth spurt and gained a few pounds?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-63836798539450342052008-06-18T14:09:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:09:00.000-05:00If she was a healthy weight two months ago and the...If she was a healthy weight two months ago and the mom is now being told the kids BMI is at the 85th percentile, then she gained weight.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13260386.post-56247630824008160322008-06-18T14:07:00.000-05:002008-06-18T14:07:00.000-05:00She gained weight? She gained weight?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
